Short answer: Goa weddings run from November to February, when the weather is dry and pleasant. Goa has two airports, Manohar International at Mopa in the north and Dabolim in the south, so the single most useful thing you can tell guests is which one to fly into. Outdoor music has to stop by 10 pm, so plan beach and lawn functions early in the evening and move the late celebrations indoors.
This guide covers the season, the two airports, North versus South Goa, and how to keep guests informed when they are spread across beach resorts.
When to have a Goa wedding
| Months | What to expect |
|---|---|
| November to February | The best weather and the main season. Late December, around Christmas and New Year, is the most expensive and crowded time of the year, with flights and hotels priced to match. |
| March to May | Hot and humid, with lower rates. Evening functions work; daytime beach events are hard on guests. |
| June to September | Heavy monsoon rain. Many beach shacks close and outdoor setups are risky, though some resorts offer monsoon packages indoors. |

Which airport: Mopa or Dabolim
- Manohar International Airport (GOX), at Mopa, is in the far north of Goa, closer to beaches like Morjim, Ashwem and Mandrem.
- Dabolim Airport (GOI), near Vasco da Gama, is in the south-central part of the state, closer to South Goa resorts and Panaji.
Driving from one end of Goa to the other can take around two hours. A guest who books the wrong airport adds a long taxi ride to their trip, so put the right airport, and the drive time from it, on the invitation for each venue. Guests coming by train usually arrive at Madgaon (Margao) or Thivim.
North Goa or South Goa
| North Goa | South Goa | |
|---|---|---|
| Feel | Livelier, more nightlife and cafés | Quieter, more resort weddings |
| Best for | Younger crowds and a party sangeet | Families, elders and a calmer pace |
| Nearest airport | Mopa (GOX) | Dabolim (GOI) |
Beach ceremonies and music
- Music: under India's noise rules, loudspeakers and amplified music in the open are not allowed between 10 pm and 6 am. Hold the sangeet or after-party indoors if it is meant to go late.
- Beach setups: a ceremony on a public beach needs permission, and resorts with beach access usually handle it. Ask your venue what is included before you plan the mandap on the sand.
- Sun and tide: plan beach functions for the late afternoon, check the tide times for the day, and keep shade and water out for guests.
Keeping guests informed
Goa guests often stay in different resorts, arrive at different airports and treat the wedding as a holiday, which means they read the details at the last minute. Put everything they need behind one link:
- Every function with its time, venue and map, and the dress code for each (white for the beach, colour for the sangeet).
- Which airport to use for each venue, and pickup details.
- An RSVP for each function, plus arrival and departure dates.
- Their own resort and dates if you are hosting the stay.
Wedence builds that page free with an RSVP for each function, and every new wedding gets every premium feature free for its first 10 days, including WhatsApp reminders, room allocation and arrival passes.
