How to Make a Free Wedding Website in India (Done in One Evening)

A wedding website has one job: answer the questions your guests would otherwise send you at 11pm. What time is the haldi? Which hall? Is there parking? Should I wear yellow? Get those answers onto one link and you have a wedding website. Everything else is decoration.

Short answer: To make a free wedding website in India, open wedence.in/create and type both names. Your animated invitation appears straight away, before any sign-up. Create an account to save it, add the date, your functions, the venue and a photo, pick one of the two free designs, publish, and paste the link into WhatsApp. Guests RSVP on the same link, and the free invite does not expire.

That is the whole route. The rest of this guide is the detail that decides whether guests use the site or open it once and go back to calling you.

What do you need before you start?

Ten minutes of collecting saves an hour of back and forth with your parents. Keep these ready:

  • Both names, exactly as they should appear. Decide now whether it reads Priya & Rahul or Rahul & Priya. Families have opinions about this.
  • The date and start time of every function. Write 7pm, not “evening”.
  • Venue addresses copied from Google Maps, not from the hall's visiting card. The Maps version is the one that will actually open in a guest's phone.
  • One good photo of the two of you. A tall photo works better on a phone than a wide one.
  • Two contact numbers for the day. Usually a cousin from each side. Not the couple. You will be busy.

How do you make the wedding website, step by step?

  1. Start at wedence.in/create. Type the bride's name and the groom's name. The invitation draws itself as you type, so you see the real thing before you commit to anything.
  2. Save it. Sign in with Google, a phone number or email. The free plan asks for no card.
  3. Add your functions. Haldi, mehndi, sangeet, the wedding, the reception: each one gets its own date, time, venue and dress code. If a function is at the main venue, tick the box instead of typing the address again.
  4. Add the venue. Paste the address and guests get a map that opens in their own maps app.
  5. Add your photo. It sits on the invite and becomes the preview card WhatsApp shows when you share the link.
  6. Pick a design. Wedding Cinema and Bellagio are free. Nine more are built for particular traditions (Nikah, Marathi, Tamil, Kerala, Goan Catholic, Rajasthani and others) and are a one-time add-on. See them all on the templates page.
  7. Check it on your phone, then publish. Not on the laptop. Your guests will open it on a phone inside WhatsApp, so that is the screen that matters.
  8. Share the link. Two lines of text and the link. The preview card does the persuading.

What does a free wedding website actually include?

“Free” on wedding sites often means free until your guest list gets interesting. Here is what the Wedence free plan covers and what it doesn't, so nothing surprises you two weeks before the wedding.

Free planPaid design or plan
Animated invitationYes, on two designsAll eleven designs
Functions shown in fullThe first twoEvery function
Venue with a mapYesYes
Guests can RSVPYes, with a live count per functionPlus named replies, filters and export (Pro)
Guest list sizeUnlimitedUnlimited
WatermarkNoneNone
Photo gallery, music, your story, guest wishesNoYes
WhatsApp reminders to guests who haven't repliedNoYes, from Pro
Does it expire?NoNo

Paid options are a one-time payment, not a subscription. If all you want is every function and the gallery on the invite, buying one paid design does that on its own; you don't need a plan. Current prices are on the pricing page.

What should go on an Indian wedding website?

Put on it what saves a phone call:

  • Each function with its date, start time and venue.
  • A map for every venue that is different from the main one.
  • A dress code in plain words. “Yellow or green, nothing white” is useful. “Ethnic” is not.
  • An RSVP date. Without one, “I'll let you know” lasts until the haldi.
  • Two names and numbers for the day.

Think twice about your home address (unless a function is there) and bank details for gifts. Some families are fine with both; many aren't. There is a longer checklist in what to include on an Indian wedding website.

How do you share it on WhatsApp so people actually open it?

Send the link, never a screenshot of the invite. A screenshot can't hold a map or an RSVP, and on a phone the venue line is too small to read. Keep the message short:

“We're getting married! 23 January, Pune. Everything is in this link: dates, venues and maps. Please RSVP for each function so we can plan food.”

One thing people learn the hard way: WhatsApp remembers a link's preview card. If you change your photo after sharing, some chats will keep showing the old one for a while. Put the final photo up before the first big send. For more wording, see wedding invitation messages for WhatsApp.

Five mistakes that make a wedding website useless

  1. Never opening it on a phone. It looked lovely on the laptop. On a phone the names wrap badly and nobody told you.
  2. Times without am or pm. “7:30” for a sangeet is clear to you and a coin toss for Nani.
  3. One address for five functions in three places. Give each function its own venue.
  4. No RSVP date. The caterer wants numbers by a date. Your guests should know that date.
  5. Telling only the family group about a change. Edit the website. Everyone holding the link sees the new time, including the people who left the group in 2019.

Is a free wedding website enough?

For a wedding with one or two functions, yes, and plenty of couples never pay for anything. For a five-function wedding with 400 guests and family flying in, you will want every function on the invite and names next to the RSVPs, so you know which Sharma said yes. That's the point where a paid design or Pro earns its place. Start free either way. Your link stays the same when you upgrade.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make a wedding website for free in India?

Yes. Wedence's animated invitation and essential wedding website (your first two functions, the venue and RSVP) are free forever on two designs, Wedding Cinema and Bellagio, with no watermark and no cap on guests. Start at wedence.in/create; you can see your invitation before creating an account.

How long does it take to make a wedding website?

If you have the names, dates, venues and a photo ready, the setup itself takes well under an hour. Collecting the details from both families is usually the slow part.

Do guests need an app or an account to open it or RSVP?

No. The website opens in the phone's browser or straight inside WhatsApp, and guests reply without signing up for anything.

Can I change details after I've shared the link?

Yes. Edit the website and the change shows to everyone holding the link. The link itself does not change.

Does a free Wedence wedding website expire?

No. The free invite stays live; there is no trial clock on it.

Can I write my wedding website in Hindi or Marathi?

Yes. You can type names, function details and messages in Hindi, Marathi or any language your keyboard writes.
